Bret is from a small town in Manitoba Canada, where she grew up swimming and trying out any sport that she could find. Bret eventually moved away from her hometown, in high school, to a larger city where she would be able to swim more competitively. She continued to compete in Canada until receiving an athletic scholarship to Duquesne University. Bret moved to Pittsburgh and attended Duquesne from 2011 to 2018. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology as well as her master’s degree in counseling. She was fortunate enough to be able to compete in Track and Field, while attending graduate school as well.
After completing her eligibility in college sports, Bret was looking for a form of exercise that would fill the void that she was missing from swimming and track. She found Pittsburgh Punch in September of 2017 and fell in love with the different types of fitness classes that they offer. Bret loved the challenge of beginning a new sport that she was completely unfamiliar with. Bret started with one class per week and eventually became a regular at Pittsburgh Punch. In April of 2018 she decided that she wanted to pursue her passion for fitness and help others see how fitness can improve their physical and mental health. Pittsburgh Punch is the perfect place for Bret to share her love of fitness with clients and members because what’s more fun than punching things to get fit?! If Bret is not in the gym, you can find her on her yoga mat, shopping at lulu lemon, walking her dog or finding new bubble tea cafes.
